Winter Concert

MJHS Choir Winter Concert will be Thursday evening, December 17, 2009 at Enon Baptist Church at 7:00pm. Please invite all your friends and loved ones to come and enjoy this holiday extravaganza with the four performing choirs from Jordan. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......!!

Fall Concert

Parents:

Rhythmx & Vocé Auditions

Vocé and Rhythmx auditions this Wednesday and Thursday before and after school. Sign up in the choir room. Results will be posted Friday and rehearsals begin next week.

Tri-M Music Honor Society Invitations:

Invitation letters for Tri-M have been sent home. Eligibility requirements are:

1. Membership in an auditioned choir (such as Chamber, All-State) or section leader in band
2. Minimum cum. GPA of 3.5 with continued enrollment in choir or band

Parents, please sign acceptance form and send with membership fee by Sept. 9.
Email me with any questions. Our first meeting will be in the next couple of weeks. Congrats!!!

Spring Concert

This Friday is the final Spring concert for the MJHS Choral Department. It will begin at 7:00pm at Enon Baptist Church and will feature music of all genres, including classical, gospel, pop, and jazz. There will be faculty and student solos and will showcase the talent of seven choirs and ensembles. It is free and open to the public. Come all!!

Dress Rehearsal!!!

DRESS REHEARSAL: THIS THURSDAY 3:30-5pm AT ENON BAPTIST CHURCH. IF YOU DO NOT MAKE IT, YOU WILL NOT SING ON THE CONCERT!!!! BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!

Magazine Project

State Festival

Parents: We will need chaperones on Tuesday, April 21st for State Festival. We will leave MJ at 8:00am and return around 1:00pm, stopping to eat lunch on the way back. The festival will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist. Please let me know if you can help out. If you would like to just come hear us sing, directions to the church are below:

Magazine orders

All choirs: Magazine cards/orders will be due the end of next week. Those with family orders, be sure and write down the size you want of the free t-shirt!! Let's have 100% participation this year!

For AP Theory students

Test on Chp 16 will be THIS FRIDAY! We will take our Sightreading test next Tuesday, so look over the appropriate examples.

MAY DAYS!!

The Chamber Choir will be performing for the opening ceremonies of the "May Days" at Doss Ferry on Saturday May 2nd. We will sing the National Anthem and two other selections right before the Mayor speaks. Spread the news and come and support us!

Vocé Reminder

Parents of Seniors!!
If your child is interested in auditioning for college vocal scholarships, please let me know, if you have not done so. Full tuition scholarships are available at most 2-year colleges and partial scholarships at 4-year institutions. Each require different preparation. Chamber Choir should wear dress clothes to school tomorrow, Wed 3/4, for performance at the Honor Society induction ceremony at 8:30am. Parents are welcome to attend.

Chamber Choir District results

Congrats to the members of the Chamber Choir. They received straight Superior scores from all 3 stage adjudicators and the sightreading adjudicator at District Performance Evaluations last week. They will advance to the State level in April, which will be held at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Great job, students! (Except basses, that 6 to #4!!!)

ALL-STATE is a-comin'!

Students in All-State will be going to Samford the end of this month. If you have not paid the $30 registration cost, please bring a check (to MJHS) to Mrs. Heron. I will need at least 2 parent drivers...please let me know if you can help on Thurs or Fri. I have sent the detail rehearsal schedule home with the students.

Spring District Festival

Chamber Choir Parents:
